Volunteers’ Week takes place every year from 1 – 7 June and is a time to say thank you for the fantastic contribution volunteers make.

Volunteers are absolutely vital to the work Sacro does so we thought this week, we would ask them to explain in their own words, why they decided to volunteer with Sacro and what volunteering means to them.

Remembrance

As we approach Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the brave men and women who have served, and continue to serve our country. Their courage, sacrifice and dedication will never be forgotten. We must also remember the families of the brave, who have equally sacrificed, saying goodbye to their loved ones who never got to return, and for those who did but life suddenly felt very different.

We are inviting people with lived experience of the justice system to take part in small, informal group discussions this August. What you share will help shape the work of the Sentencing and Penal Policy Commission, which is looking at how prison and community sentences are used in Scotland.
