In 2021, Sacro celebrated its 50 anniversary. Unfortunately, celebrating anything presented a major challenge last year so we have waited until now to make some noise. Since 1971, Sacro has been a pioneer in establishing ground-breaking services across the country with the aim of making Scotland a place of safety, inclusiveness, and wellbeing for everyone. We think that’s something to be very proud of, so we sat down and had a good think about what we have achieved since people last scoured the pockets of their tartan-trimmed trousers for two and a half pence in shiny new coins for their bus fare.
We set up Project 50 and spent a good part of the year talking with our employees, partners and stakeholders to get a feel of how they viewed Sacro, what they thought was working well and what maybe needed some attention. Our Project 50 provided a wealth of feedback and from this, we have developed our strategy and management structure, redesigned our website, and updated our branding.
When we really thought about it, people and communities are front and centre of what we do. We exist to help and support people so when it came to our brand-new website, we wanted to tell their stories and show how important Sacro has been to them through their – often difficult – journeys.
The very clever designers at Vital Hike, have worked with us on our new logo and branding.
Our new logo portrays a friendlier, more direct Sacro. It is a more literal representation of what Sacro does by helping to put people on the right track, leading them on the path to positive change.
As a Scottish organisation, we wanted to reflect the importance of where we live and work. Our accompanying graphics weave shapes together to form tartan-like patterns, applied to the Sacro arrow to keep the shapes more uniform. These arrows, shapes and colours represent different paths, communities, and diversity across the country.
We are very proud of our past and excited about our future. What hasn’t changed is our commitment to people; the people we work with and the people who work for us. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and talent of our colleagues, volunteers and Board members; past and present, so thank you all.
We hope to hold more events and activities throughout the year so keep an eye on our new site and our social media for developments. If that’s not enough for you, we have put together Fifty Things About Sacro to tell some more about our amazing organisation and people.
